Herstory Light Show Highlights

For #StBrigidsDay we are sharing highlights from past #Herstory Light Shows produced in collaboration with Dodeca.

#1.

Ériu, founding Goddess of Ireland (yes our nation is named after a goddess!) by Jim Fitzpatrick illuminating Uisneach for the inaugural Herstory Light Festival in 2017. Uisneach is the sacred feminine centre of Ireland and indigenous elders journey here to start their world pilgrimages for peace. Photo by Killian Kennedy.

#2.

To celebrate the suffrage centenary in 2018 we lit up the buildings in Dublin city where the suffragettes smashed the windows in protest 100 years ago. This is Markievicz by Jim Fitzpatrick lighting up the GPO

#3.

On #BrigidsDay 2021, Herstory journeyed into the very heart of Ireland to help to heal the heartbreak of the #MotherAndBabyHomes scandal. Iconic buildings illuminated to witness and honour all who suffered. This pilgrimage of light is captured in SOLAS, a cathartic film by Peter Martin.

To mark the historic first International Women’s Caucus #Herstory illuminated Dublin Castle with Irish female politicians past and present.

STUDENT POWER, a collaboration with the ISSU amplifying the voices of youth activists with art created by students from NCAD and Colaiste Dhulaigh

Mary Magdalene by Jim Fitzpatrick lighting up the Magdalene Laundry on Séan McDermott street for #Stand4Truth

On #StBrigidsDay 2020 Herstory lit up Belfast City Hall in honour of Mo Mowlam and the peace heroines of Northern Ireland with new portraits created by students and artists across Ulster.

#11.

The Parallel Peace Project captured in The Only Victory short film by Peter Martin. This short film follows the journey of a little girl and her paper dove as she voyages through history and today. On her journey she meets awe-inspiring women’s rights and peace activists Salome Mbugua, Ifrah Ahmed and Razan Ibrahim. Farah Elle performs her powerful new song Heartbroken.Open. specially written for the project.

The iconic Titanic Museum aglow with astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell.

Fatin Al Tamini, chair of the Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign honoured in the Herstory Light Festival, illuminating the iconic GPO building.
